St. John's United Methodist Church
SUNDAY  WORSHIP  SERVICE
10:30 A.M.   May 11, 2008

HYMNS:

#332:  “Spirit of Faith, Come Down”

1.	Spirit of faith, come down,
	reveal the things of God,
and make to us the Godhead known,
	and witness with the blood.
'Tis thine the blood to apply
and give us eyes to see,
who did for every sinner die
	hath surely died for me.
2.	No one can truly say
	that Jesus is the Lord,
unless thou take the veil away
	and breathe the living Word.
	Then, only then, we feel
	our interest in his blood,
	and cry with joy unspeakable,
"Thou art my Lord, my God!"

#695:  “O Lord, May Church and Home Combine”

#420:  “Breathe on Me, Breath of God”

SCRIPTURE:  Acts 2:1-4

SERMON:  “A CHURCH THAT CAUGHT FIRE”

WELCOME VISITORS

Welcome to St. John's and if you are new to the area to the community of Anderson!  If you are looking for a church home, we invite you to become part of our community of faith .  Visitors are especially invited to attend Sunday Morning Worship and Church School.  Our Worship Service begins at 10:30 A.M. (and 8:30 A.M. for Easter) in the Sanctuary.  Church School starts at 9:30 a.m. in our Education Building.

Crib and Preschool Nurseries are available for the 9:30 a.m. Church School and the Worship Service.  The Crib Nursery is located on the ground floor and the last door on the left before the kitchen.

As United Methodists, our faith is grounded in God’s grace.  We are saved by God’s grace and justified through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the Cross.  The moment when we surrender our lives to Christ and are saved does not complete our journey of faith or God's gracious activity in our lives.  God's grace continues to work in us to make us fit and able disciples of Jesus Christ.

You may indicate your desire to become a member of St. John's by calling our pastors, Dr. William R. Childs or Rev. Frances M. Elrod at phone No. 224-6563, by checking the box on the attendance pad during Worship Service or by coming to the altar when the invitation is given during Worship.
